New cage finally finished!
New cage finally finished!
I got the cage equipment for Christmas, but we still had to fathom out the base and all other substrate - then Zoey-bomb arrived and we've just been crazy busy!
Finally got around to fixing up the guinea pig's new cage though and it looks awesome! It's three times bigger than their last cage, holds loads more toys and they love it!
This is what we're using as the base:
And the layer above that, a rug and layer of towels to soak up pee
And fleeces line that. These will be swept daily, and the pee will go right through to the underbase, which will be swapped for a clean set once a week.
The section with the roof here is covered with a towel and is their den, to sleep in
Their last cage in comparison to this worked out at 1 x 2 grids so they love the extra room!
Lazlo checking out the hay bin
Note that the mice are already battered from previous play
Lazlo enjoying her supper
Their sleeping area
Playing with the willow ball
Looking cute!
They love it! I wanted to get a video of them running about and checking everything out, but as it was late when we put them in they were too tired...they just ate lots hahaha!

Re: New cage finally finished!
I was really clever when making the roof as well (hehe, big head! ). I covered all but two squares with the grids secured into place. With the other to I cable tied one all the way around so it wasn't going anywhere, then cable tied the one side of the last grid to that so it had a hinge and could be opened as a door!
This way it's safe should either of the dogs slip in until we can get them out, but has really easy access too
The middle grid on the bottom row is the one that opens
Zoey wanted to get in to play with all the toys!
