Had a bad day? Rant here!
This topic is where you can rage about anything at all that went wrong in your day...it can be as complex as an argument at work or as simple as your shopping bag split - enjoy
And this thread was created because, yes, I have a rant!
Aaagh I can't change my username in profile so I am stuck as Admin! I want to be Red, I'm always Red!! *headdesk*

Euuugggh A bit worse for wear!
Red and I went out with some friends last night and got a little bit too drunk (Don't drink kids, it's painful!) so I'm feeling the after effects this morning. Red isn't up yet but she usually gets much more hungover than me so there might be another rant soon!!

Re: Had a bad day? Rant here!
Ha, no, I didn't have a hangover
My rant is in regards to the pet shop that wrongly advised us to get one budgie, as two males would fight. I sent a complaint email to them, and today the manager has replied. He didn't apologise for a staff member giving us such wrong advice, instead he said:
"it is true that if you want 2 budgies then 2 males are less likely to fight than 2 females, but just because they are less likely doesnt mean they wont fight and there is always the risk of fighting when keeping 2 birds together in a cage. I assume this is the point the member of staff was trying to make but i obviously cannot comment on how well the point was made."
No, that isn't the point that was made! The staff member said that under no circumstances should two mail budgies live together as they will fight...this is wrong!! The staff member also said that as about 95% of the birds they had in were males, we should get one - Ramba is a girl!!!
The manager went on to say:
" Keeping a lone budgie is by no means cruel and is the best way of keeping them if you would like to train the bird, attempt to tame it or handle it from time to time. Birds kept together will generally not bond or interact with their owner unless you put in huge efforts from a very early age to do so. Given the choice i would and infact do keep a lone bird at home partly because id rather have a bird i can interact with and enjoy rather than 2 birds that only ever interact wih each other."
Best way of keeping them?! Well, that's your opinion...the first budgie I ever had was impossible to tame, despite living alone, and it always made me sad to watch him try groom and interact with his reflection in the mirror
I'm not against people keeping lone budgies, it's just that I wanted to keep two! I don't even mind if they never become tame and just have each other, I just love that they have company and get on so well. They roost together, preen each other, play with each other and just today Ramba was feeding Kanji
In case anyone was wondering, the sackless pet shop in question is Pet City, Bradford. Last time we were there, their fish were a real mess too...a lot hanging about looking listless, and several dead in every tank
Won't be going there again...I replied to the manager's email, I wonder if he will email back!

Re: Had a bad day? Rant here!
The manager emailed back, a very short response He basically said he was glad we got what we wanted but not to write off the store because of what happened...I dunno, the animals in there seem to be kept pretty well, but the fish are acky and they're very willing to sell far too small cages with degus and Syrian hamsters, but I guess a lot of pet shops are like that...

Our TV broke last night Which is fine as we got it for free, but a little sad because I like the way it looks and we haven't had it that long. We get to buy another today which is exciting, but goodbye funky-looking white TV!

Re: Had a bad day? Rant here!
Okay, this is a big rant...
We moved into this place just over two months ago and we love it. We did complain straight away that the fencing in the garden was rotting and missing, and we complained when about a month ago our gas fire was pronounced "immediately dangerous" and illegal to use...obviously we want it fixed before winter!!
We haven't heard back from the company or been able to contact them in any way, so we forgot about it. We received a phone call today from a building work company saying they had been given a job to do in our house which they received on the 9th May (we moved in on the 22nd May) to fix all the laminate flooring in the living room as it is loose (and has gotten worse since we've lived here), tidy all the garden (which was weed central when we moved in and a real mess) and do "something" with the stairs / carpet...?!?
Aagh!! What is it with our houses and needing the entire floor of the living room fixed?! What a bloody nightmare, grrr! Could the letting agency not have done it before we moved in (it sounds like they wanted these builders to do it before we moved in but they didn't try elsewhere just left the job with them) or could they not at least have warned us it would need doing at some point?! Our entire living room is gonna need emptying, destroying and then putting back together whilst we live upstairs for a few days...lots of grr!

Here we go again.
Deja vs Red.
You've done this before and know how to handle it. Hope it doesn't take long.

Re: Had a bad day? Rant here!
True true; I'm hoping it doesn't take long too - a day-long job would be nice!
They were supposed to have called back to say if they were coming mon/tues/wed and just haven't, so who knows what's happening! We're finally getting our fire fixed on Tuesday, having furniture delivered at some point tomorrow and have our voluntary job on Wednesday so if we hear last minute we'll just have to try slot them around something...

Re: Had a bad day? Rant here!
I've had a twitch in my lip all day. It's surprisingly annoying and stopping me from being able to concentrate
Re: Had a bad day? Rant here!
My rant is the flipping weather! It had been lightly raining all morning so I put off taking the dog out and just let him in the garden. About an hour ago the weather brightened and the sun came out, so we set out on a walk. I stupidly only took a material jacket. Fifteen minutes in the rain returns, so we shelter under some trees...then it really starts to rain! We get back looking like drowned rats, and as soon as we're inside, it's stopped again!
Re: Had a bad day? Rant here!
these were yesterday's moans, but I feel they need to be included
1) I got stung by a wasp three times on my little finger - OUCH! I was combing my hair on a dog walk and there was apparently a wasp on it, so it clung to my finger and stung it, then as I flapped my hand got caught in my sleeve and stung me another two times! Grrr!
And 2) I've started bruxing again, grinding my teeth in my sleep, so am gonna have to get another tooth guard. Have realised it's a side effect of meds, oh yay and that's why I did it a few years ago too, same meds!

Re: Had a bad day? Rant here!
Not really a rant but ow my feet ache!! I've done so much walking today and there's still another big dog walk left to do...oh yay!
We walked from Wilsden to our house, and on the way back there was a tan collie cross walking up the main road There was a huge long line of cars driving very slow behind it I started talking to it and knelt down, yawning and offering calming signals. It walked over to us, then flattened itself right down in the middle of the road, almost getting hit by a car on our side of the road!
It was the most submissive timid dog I have ever met, and I've met some pretty broken dogs. It shimmied forwards right down on its' belly, licking its' lips and offering me tons of other calming signals, and sniffed at my hand. It was way scared of Edge. Then it fled further on up the road before we could do anything, but at least it was on the path this time...
Poor thing, I hope it finds somewhere safe.

Bleh my laptop is actually unusable now...it took over an hour for the screen saver to go and the desktop to appear! You can't watch anything on it, you can't open new tabs, close things or search...not sure how often I'll be able to get on the forum as a result
Re: Had a bad day? Rant here!
My rant is the rain! We've got a busy day tomorrow and are gonna be out in it...I am not looking forward to it, and am probably gonna venture out in my waterproof pants...so what if I look daft!
Re: Had a bad day? Rant here!
Not really a bad day rant, just a rant about how idiotic Bradford Council's dog warden service is...
So, as you all know, we reported a dog to the dog warden as it was straying, entered our garden, broke into our rabbit's metal run, and killed him. The dog warden came around, was very insensitive, told us he had given the dog's owners our details and would be giving them a letter stating their dog was a dangerous dog and had to be kept on a lead. The other dogs' owners came around, apologised, and said they were actually going to have the dog PTS because he was getting "more aggressive" (we didn't want that at all, but it's their decision and the dog looked neglected...it STANK!)
Well, a few days ago we received a letter stating that our dog was a DANGEROUS DOG and had been found STRAYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The absolute morons had sent US the letters meant for the Jack Russell's owners! We phoned them up to report their stupidness, and they said they didn't have the JRT's address, and could we get it for them!!
We gave them it, and the woman said the dog warden would phone us back in a few hours...not heard anything since

Oh I can't believe the council have done that what a horrible way to drag it all back up I hope nothing is going to happen with Kasper because of this and you can get it all sorted out how terrible.

Re: Had a bad day? Rant here!
This isn't a complain not really its more of an observation. Halloween children seem to be getting ruder and ruder and the trick or treat knocking started before iyt got dark here and will probably go on until I go to bed!!! Add to that we've had the same group going around three times grabbing fistfulls of sweets...it was different when my son was a child.

Re: Had a bad day? Rant here!
Haha I feel for you Janet! We only had two groups knock at our door all night - one of them was at 4.30pm though, bit early!
Re: Had a bad day? Rant here!
Aaaagh! My rant is the 'y' key on my keyboard! It was all gammy and annoying, so I took it off to clean underneath it. Which is fine. Only my laptop is useless and the keys won't go back on...so now it's just a million times worse!!!
If my words keep losing their y's, this is why...although I'm trying really hard not to let that happen!

Re: Had a bad day? Rant here!
We've both had a terribly stressful day today! I'll leave Edge to tell you about his and blab on about mine instead
Today was really, manically busy...we got home, sorted both dogs, and I cracked on with some tidying. I'd just swept and vacuumed the living room when a certain someone *cough* Edge *cough* knocked over a full Quality Street tub that we keep our budgie food in!!!
Here's the damage:
So I had to vacuum again. Then cleaning the mice out made a mess...so our room has been hoovered three times today!!
